Our Mision
To provide a practice based training, knowledge and skill for individuals and organizations to enable them provide services in the sector at world class standards, work towards development and growth of the industry and to run profitable and sustainable microfinance institutions that are comparable to others anywhere in the world. To bridge the skill gap in practical training and microfinance skills which is currently lacking in the sector since the introduction of commercial microfinance by CBN in 2005
Our Core Objectives

  • To provide institutional support for microfinance institutions that lack capacity for self-development due to resource constraints
  • To provide the industry with well-trained human resource pool which has been a major challenge for the industry over the years
  • To complement the effort of the regulatory authorities (CBN and NDIC) in developing the sector and to build adequate capacity for the financial services sector
  • To promote financial literacy to the general public and in particular the numerous financially excluded and underserved population who largely form the target market for Microfinance institutions

Promise is an experienced professional in various fields spanning Lecturing, professional accounting practice, Investment and Commercial banking, Pension fund administration and Investment, Consulting and Microfinance. He was the immediavte past Chief Finance Officer (CFO) of Accion where he worked as a top level executive and a Microfinance expert for 9 years. He joined Accion when the company was barely one year old and was part of the Executive Management Team that nurtured the bank from a start-up to a reputable player and market leader in Microfinance subsector in Nigeria. He also worked briefly as the Bank’s Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). He had previously worked with Oak pensions Ltd as Head of Compliance and Audit, and Head of Investment Management Departments. Promise had worked with NAL Bank Plc (Now Sterling Bank) where he headed several Units and Departments as well as other financial institutions. Over the years, he has been trained in various aspects of Leadership, Microfinance and Financial inclusion and is a trainer and Facilitator for different Professional Institutes such as CIBN and ICAN

Johnson Is a seasoned banker and certified microfinance expert. He started his banking career with Federal Mortgage Bank in 1995 where he did his National Youths' service and thereafter joined All States Trust Bank as an officer. He worked in several Departments of the Bank including Operations, International Treasury, Internal Control and Credit and Marketing. He later moved to Diamond Bank in 2006 as a Team Head, Retail banking in Credit and Marketing Department of the Bank. Between 2007 and 2009, he worked with Bank PHB and later Metaneo Midas Ltd. He was appointed the MD/CEO of Briyth Covenant Microfinance Bank Ltd in 2009. He piloted the affairs of the bank until 2013 when he moved over to CEDAR Microfinance Bank as the Managing Director CEO. Since he joined the Bank in 2013 to date, the bank has since witnessed tremendous growth. Over the years Johnson has attended several courses locally and internationally. He has served as an executive member of the National Association of Microfinance banks Lagos chapter (NAMLAG). He is also a Trainer and facilitator for Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria CCPD program.
